The “Brainstorm” is a new offering from Slash for 14/15 and is designed to charge over the whole mountain. The Backseat Camrock profile, combined with a slight setback, makes sure you get that extra float in the pow and ensure you don’t sink like a sub. With a twin shape, The Brainstorm allows you to bring freestyle tricks into your freeriding experience. This is Manuel Diaz’s board of choice and if it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for you.
For the girls, we have selected Arbor’s “Cadence” Snowboard. Arbor have designed this board specifically for women and not taken a regular mens snowboard in a smaller size and painted it pink. With a progressive rocker shape, edge catches are reduced, allowing you to improve your skills in the park, on the pistes and into the backcountry.
The Burton Malavita Re:flex is one of the most popular bindings in Burton’s arsenal and that shows no sign of changing soon. An all terrain binding with it’s hinge canted highback and heel hammock, providing additional performance as more power is directed straight to the board’s edges. For extra comfort, Burton have added B3 gel into the footbed. This footbed puts the riders foot in a more natural position, creating a painless riding experience over a prolonged time. New for this year is their asymmetric react strap and ratchets that take less time to strap in.
Union make some of the lightest and strongest bindings on the market and their women’s specific model The Trilogy, is no different. Extruded 3d alumminium heel cups offer minimal heel drag, are ultra lightweight but retain their strength. Magnesium buckles are both stronger, lighter and snag free. This whole binding only weighs 700 G and is the lightest women’s specific binding on the market. To top things off, Union’s Trilogy 2 baseplate has a lifetime guarantee.
As you all know Nike are pulling out of snowboarding, but in the meantime you should take full advantage of their boot offerings for this season. The LunarEndor is their top of the range model, built on their ultra cushioned Lunarlon sole, which will protect your heels on those solid landings. The Nike LunarEndor comes with three interchangable inserts, which have different amounts of flex, meaning that the stiffness is fully customisable for your preference. Heat mouldable liners provide ultra comfort and enhanced performance. A guaranteed collectors item in 20 years time.
The Devine SL from Northwave is a premium women’s specific boot. An all mountain/ freestyle orientated model built on Northwave’s Hypershock sole, which offers superior cushioning and anti vibration when stomping landings. The T3 heat mouldable liner features the 540 heel retention system, ensuring your heels stay locked down, improving precision and control. The super SI speed lacing system means you can lace up quicker and remain locked in all day.
We like our outerwear tech but without looking like a bag of skittles. The Leaf Jacket is a technical shell, with fully taped seams and a 20,000 mm waterproof membrane which keeps that rain, snow and sleet out. It has all the other essentials such as powder skirt, adjustable hood, lycra wrist cuffs, pit vents and well placed pockets. It’s classic styling will have you looking legit in any situation.
Too many people mess up a good jacket with bad pant choices, black will always be a good choice and the Clwr “Brace Pants” match the Leaf jacket above perfectly. With a modern slim cut, articulated knee, 10,000 mm waterproof coating, loops to attach to a Colour Wear jacket and plenty more. The Brace Pants keep your pants where they should be as that sagged pant look is so 2005.
Holden have always been on point with their collections, with stylish shapes, contemporary colours and styles. Holden realised before most that not every girl wants to wear fluro outfits with a shorter fit. “The Grace,” hints at classic military styling with it’s longer length cut but with a more feminine shape. Fully taped, 10k waterproofing and fully insulated for comfort and additional warmth. Holden care about the environment so the Grace features solvent-free lamination, PFOA-free DWR and even ships in a biodegradable bag.
Holden’s Standard Woman pant compliments the Grace Jacket’s military styling. Constructed from 10k stretch twill, that is designed to provide freedom of movement and therefore comfort when out riding. Internal waist adjustments, vents, boot gaiters and as with all Holden products solvent-free lamination, PFOA-free DWR and shipped in a biodegradable bag. It’s clear to see why the Standard pant is so popular.
Oakley have been hyping these for a while now and as ever we are skeptical to brand hype, but we’ve been using these on our pre season and were blown away with how well they work. The Prizm lens only allows certain colours to filter through, meaning that in flatlight conditions you can see way more than a regular flatlight lens. The lenses can be changed easily but in all honesty with the Prizm lens you will be fine with just the one lens for all conditions. Helmet compatible if you are into that sort of thing. The Oakley Flightdeck is unisex.
Transform have gone all Nordic and festive with this cold weather mitten. With a full rubber palm, you can grab without slippage, and Thinsulate insulated lining and Hyporawaterproof inserts keep you warm and dry. Built on a low profile shape, so they stay under your jacket and wrist leashes stop you losing them. The Transform Gloves KO Scandi is unisex.
